India Canada Friendship Circle Lecture Event

      On September 17, 2017, India Canada Friendship Circle organised its Lecture Event as also celebration of 150th anniversary of the Confederation. Around 130 people attended. The main speakers were His Worship Jim Watson, Mayor of City of Ottawa, His Excellency Vikas Swarup, High Commissioner of India to Canada and Ambassador Donald Bobiash, Assistant Deputy Minister, Asia Pacific, Global Affairs Canada.

      Mayor Jim Watson spoke on "Connecting with India" based on his trade Mission to India in February 2016. He congratulated ICFC for fostering relationship between Canada and India. High Commissioner talked about his "First Impressions of Canada since arriving". He enumerated seven facts about Canada that he observed during six and a half months of his stay here. Ambassador Bobiash highlighted linkages in Canada-India Relationship.

      The programme also included a video presentation by Ms Roohi Ahmed, President, ICFC and "Greetings from the Hill" by Hon'ble Deepak Obhrai and Hon'ble Chandra Arya, both Members of Parliament.

      The event was informative and provided a good knowledge of the potential as well as the collaborations between the two nations.
